Saint Kitts and Nevis, also known as the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is an island country in the West Indies. Located in the Leeward Islands chain of the Lesser Antilles, it is the smallest sovereign state in the Western Hemisphere, in both area and population. The country is a Commonwealth realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as head of state.

The capital city is Basseterre on the larger island of Saint Kitts. The smaller island of Nevis lies approximately 3 km (2 mi) southeast of Saint Kitts across a shallow channel called “The Narrows”.

Miss St. Kitts 2018, Nabila Stapleton was born in St. Martin, French West Indies. She was raised by her mother until the age of 8 and was taken in by her godmother when her mother could no longer care for her. Although she faced many challenges growing up without her parents, Nabila was always optimistic and resilient. After graduating from high school, she courageously made the decision to move to St. Kitts- the home of her maternal family where she spent the next 14 years. As her relationship with her family grew stronger, St. Kitts began to feel like home. Her newfound sense of belonging gave her the confidence to navigate the workforce with enthusiasm as she held positions at various companies throughout her career.

Later, Nabila left her country for Holland and Belgium where she served as a missionary for her church for a year and a half. There she had the opportunity to teach and serve natives; immigrants and refugees from across the world. She then attended Brigham Young University – Hawaii, where she graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Human Resources. Nabila is currently in Salt Lake City working and pursuing a second degree while preparing for graduate school. Her dream is to use her education and life experiences to raise her family and make a positive impact on her community.
